This spinach banana smoothie is the perfect way to pack in greens without a fuss. It’s creamy, naturally sweet, and incredibly toddler-friendly thanks to the smooth texture and mellow flavor. With just a handful of ingredients, it’s ideal for busy mornings, snack time, or even poured into popsicle molds for a refreshing treat. Even better, it’s flexible for picky eaters and easy to adapt for babies too.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups/spoons
  • Toddler cup or reusable pouch

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1/2 cup fresh spinach lightly packed
  • 1/2 cup milk dairy or non-dairy
  • 1 tbsp honey optional, only for toddlers over 1 year
  • 1 tsp chia seeds or ground flaxseed optional

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender. Include banana, spinach, milk, honey (if using), and any optional add-ins.
  • Blend until completely smooth. The mixture should be creamy with no visible spinach.
  • Serve immediately in a toddler straw cup, open cup, or reusable pouch. Let cool slightly or serve chilled, depending on your toddler’s preference.
  • For younger babies, use breastmilk or formula in place of regular milk and spoon-feed the smoothie for easier intake.

Notes

Storage Tips: Store any leftovers in the fridge for up to 24 hours in an airtight container. Shake or stir before serving. For a fun twist, freeze in popsicle molds for toddler “green pops.”
Age Modifications: For babies under 12 months, skip the honey. Thin with extra milk or formula if needed for smoother consistency.
Allergy-Friendly Substitutions: Use unsweetened plant-based milk (like oat or almond) to make it dairy-free. Choose nut-free milk if allergies are a concern.
Nutrition Boosters: Add chia seeds, ground flaxseed, or a spoonful of nut butter (if introduced) to make the smoothie more filling and nutrient-rich.
Parent Tips: Give it a fun name like “monster juice” or “superhero shake” to help with picky drinkers. Serve alongside muffins, fruit, or toast for a full meal.
