Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Non-stick skillet
  • Grater
  • Spatula

Ingredients

  • 1 apple peeled and grated
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • small drizzle of oil/butter optional, for the pan

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix the grated apple, flour, egg, milk, and cinnamon until just combined. The batter will be slightly thick—that’s okay!
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease if needed.
  • Pour a small amount of batter (about 2 tablespoons) into the skillet to form mini pancakes.
  • Cook for 2–3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook another 2–3 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Let the pancakes cool slightly before serving to toddlers. For younger babies, mash or cut into small strips.
  • Enjoy these warm, comforting pancakes as a fun start to the day or a snack on the go!

Notes

Storage Tips: Leftover pancakes can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat gently in a skillet or microwave before serving.
Age Modifications: For babies under 12 months, skip sweeteners and ensure the pancakes are very soft or mashed. For older toddlers, leave them as is or offer with a spread.
Allergy-Friendly Substitutions: Use oat or almond milk for dairy-free, and replace the egg with a flax egg (1 tbsp ground flax + 3 tbsp water) for egg-free.
Nutrition Boosters: You can mix in a spoonful of ground flaxseed or chia seeds for extra fiber, or stir in a dollop of unsweetened nut butter for healthy fats.
Parent Tip: Make a double batch and freeze extras for easy weekday breakfasts!
