Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon or spatula
  • Baking dish
  • Measuring cups
  • Spoons
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 1 apple peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup honey skip or swap for under age 1
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line a small baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the oats, pumpkin puree, honey, diced apple, and cinnamon. Stir well until everything is evenly coated.
  • Spoon the mixture into your baking dish and press it down gently with the back of a spoon to even out the surface.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan—this helps them firm up for easier slicing.
  • Slice into small, toddler-friendly bars or squares.
  • Serve as-is, or with a smear of yogurt or nut butter for extra nutrition. Enjoy!

Notes

Storage: Keep bars in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight or reheat gently before serving.
Age Modifications: For babies 6–9 months, omit honey and use grated apple instead of diced. Mash the finished bar into smaller pieces if needed. For older toddlers, small chunks of apple are fine and offer a fun texture.
Allergy-Friendly Swaps: Use maple syrup or mashed banana instead of honey. Choose gluten-free oats if needed. Nut-free and dairy-free as written.
Nutrition Boosters: Stir in 1 tbsp of ground flaxseed, chia seeds, or hemp hearts for extra fiber and healthy fats. You can also mix in a spoonful of nut butter or a few raisins.
Parent Tip: Give these a fun name like “pumpkin pie oat bars” to win over picky eaters—and let little ones help with mixing to spark interest!
